The first day begins on the Upper New River, where calm pools and Class II–III rapids set a relaxed rhythm. With fewer intense rapids and plenty of scenic stretches, it is an ideal opportunity to take in the landscape and watch for wildlife. Lucky guests may spot river otters, bald eagles, or even black bears along the shoreline.
After a full day on the water, the adventure continues at a private riverside campsite. Guests can settle into tents positioned on elevated platforms, enjoy a hot dinner, gather around the fire pit, and soak up the peaceful atmosphere of the gorge after dark. Breakfast and cool mountain air await the next morning.
Day two brings a serious change of pace. The Lower New River features approximately 20–25 Class III–V rapids across 8–15 miles, with bigger waves, technical maneuvers, and plenty of adrenaline. Guides lead the group through the whitewater while the surrounding gorge provides an impressive natural setting.
The journey concludes beneath the iconic New River Gorge Bridge, creating a memorable finish to two days spent exploring one of West Virginia’s most remarkable landscapes.
With meals, camping accommodations, rafting equipment, and experienced guides included, this trip brings together scenic exploration, outdoor camaraderie, and thrilling whitewater in one immersive getaway.
